Stop wasting your energy foul-mouthing Gayoom.You can't erase the past 30 years from our history.The majority of did sincerely hail him as a "father of a nation" once.He really was the first the leader who reached out to the common man.Even today he remains the single man[without an ill-fated cushion called "iththihaadh"]who has the most support of the people.The tears these people shed were real-from their hearts.Not all of them were stupid,illiterate or ignorant!If you cannot bring yourself to show some semblance of respect for truly a good man[despite his mistakes],at least acknowledge the mass of about 100 thousand fellow countrymen.Don't they merit some sort of empathy from you.I bid Gayoom farewell with a heavy heart.Not just because of the high esteem I hold him in,but also because I knew we were headed for murkier waters.Gayoom's place as the "people's man" will be hard to fill.
